I have a 1994 F350 the speedometer and odometer didn't work when I started it today. Then I found that the automatic trans won't shift now. Must be related. Anyone?

I've had this happen to a similar truck not to long ago. There was a wire chaffing and it was popping a fuse causing this symptom. If you don't find any blow fuse I'd change the vehicle speed sensor. It should be on the diff. If not it's on the rear of the trans. Make sure the replacement on looks like the one that comes out as there are a couple different ones for that generation. Inspect the harness for the speed sensor. If you find a blown fuse let me know which fuse it is, it may help me remember

Thanks for the response, but I checked all the fuses and wires. after talking to a few people it seems that there is circuitry in the instrument cluster that directly effects the transmissions shifting, so I ended up ordering a new one.

I remember doing that to the truck I'm thinking of but I don't think that was the solution in my case. Let me know how it goes. If it doesn't I'll go through some old files to see what we did to that truck. I think the pigtail on the connector was shorted. Have you looked at any of the harness yet?

Just wanted to let you know, I just put in the new instrument cluster and the transmission shifts better than it ever has since I've owned it. Like a brand new truck. That little chip behind the speedometer caused all my troubles.
