Windshield wiper problem

The driver's side wiper goes far left and then far right and then only a little way. What is causing this?

hold down bolt at wiper arm at windshield is loose or arm is stripped from gripping pin. see if looseness by moving outside by hand while arm is parked on glass!

may have plastic arm cover over hold down nut!

My husband took off the plastic cover on the arm and tightened it and now it works fine. Thank you very much!
