2002 Ford F150 Starts Intermittently

Asked by scubamusic Oct 24, 2016 at 09:09 PM about the 2002 Ford F-150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have seen several threads similar to this but not these conditions exactly.  My truck will run fine most of the time, until it won't start.  It will crank but just not start.  Sometimes after waiting 5 - 10 minutes it will start, others it will be 30 minutes....sometimes you have to leave it overnight.  Clue: when it is not going to start, turning the key causes most of the indicators on the dash to flash like crazy.  The fuel pump never turns on.  Others have suggested the Crank indicator....Your thoughts?

Question .do you use the same key all the time ? Those are codes keys and when I worked for Ford I would ask for both or all keys on intermittent starting issues as I have found (not often ) a bad key to cause some wierd issues . That being said your dexcription. Would lead me to look for a ground problem. All too often someone did work and left grounds hanging or attached incorrectly . As a third note. Bad starter connections can also cause fluctuations in dash lights ,relays etc. So hopefully one of those 3 things will get you closer to being able to drive it confidently .good luck .I'll keep watch to see how you are doing and see if we can get a resolution .
