1987 ford ranger emission warning lite does not come on to perform ok check

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

emw modual does not look like manual picture and color code does not match  lite

1 Answer

The EMW module is a timing device that turns the "EMISSIONS" light on at approximately 60,000 miles, indicating required emission system maintenance. 1987 light trucks built prior to January 1988 have a non-resetable EMW module and require part replacement if the "EMISSIONS" light stays on. Now when you say 'does not come on"...an '87 surely has more than 60,000 miles...doesn't it?
