should be in your manual, unless you have an after market hitch, then its touch and go based off of how good your welder was
Do not base towing capacity off the welder.. EVER!! Towing capacity is rated by how much weight the vehicle can effectively as well as safely bring to a stop. Not how much it can actually tow, but how much it can stop.
if the person who welded it on did a shitty job, its not going to take near as much weight as it should without removing the entire hitch. you do have to take that into consideration, sorry if I wasn't clear on that
Well, to be honest, if it has to be welded on in the first place, it's not strong anyway. All vehicle hitch's that meet highway standards are bolted into place. Ones that are welded are not technically approved, unless it came from the factory, but i've never heard of a weld on hitch. What if you need to remove it?
What if you want to sell the truck, and want to keep your investment in a receiver hitch. The bumper has a hole in it for the trailer ball as well.
It should also be stamped on the bumper close to the trailer ball hole, figuring that it is the original bumper.
