torque spec's for Rocker Arms

Asked by answerpleeze Apr 03, 2007 at 06:31 PM about the 1989 Ford Escort

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have a 1998 Ford Escort 1.9 liter 4 cylinder and don't know what the torque spec's are for the rocker arms. Someone told us they should not be tightened all the way down, but my husband does not believe that is true. We would like to know so we can fix our sons car.

Hello answerpleeze! There probably is a torque spec on that adjustment and I agree, it's unlikely they should be ratcheted down all the way, but I couldn't find it on the web. Your husband should go to the local library where they'll have the Chilton's for your Escort. That will have the torque specs for him. Good luck!
