Oil pressure slowly drops

Asked by GuruN485 Apr 24, 2017 at 10:31 AM about the 1999 Chevrolet C/K 2500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I own a 1999 Chevy 2500 5.7 Vortec... I recently got
pissed off and red lined my truck for a good second and it
was running really bad for the moment, oil pressure
dropped fast and was low on power. Now, however, my
truck is running fine, but the oil pressure will slowly drop
from 40, below 20, and eventually to 0, then it wants to
die. Maybe the crankshaft is spitting oil? Idk, it makes
some noises between gears, like a rotating sound. Anyone
have any idea what it might be?

its the cam gear unfortunately, they are a bit fragile, unfortunately gonna have to rebuild or replace the engine, you cant really replace cam barrings without tearing the block down
