4l60e transmission problem

Asked by ZachL318 Feb 15, 2018 at 02:38 PM about the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So driving back from the store yesterday 4th gear
felt like it was slipping. When I got back home I
parked the truck for about an hour. Got in to go
around the bock to see if it was still doing it I
made it 100 yards down the road and lost all gears
including reverse. Sat for a bit with it off fired it
back up and it went into reverse made it half way
back. Then lost it again. It did it two more times
before I finally made it back. I went out there this
morning it moved then quit again. When it's in gear
and working it's sounds like there is a grinding
noise coming from the torque converter. It goes
away as soon as it loses the ability to move. If
anyone could help and point me in the right
direction that would be appreciated.

Could be the front pump in the transmission.....or as you mentioned the converter.....trans shop maybe your best bet for diagnosis
