Occasional spark indicates there is a problem with one or more signal generators, crankshaft and camshaft are two big ones, however as this a little old, wiring and corrosion will also come into question. Time to dig out the component locator and wiring diagram books and start testing.

The above is assuming you have already done the OBD system code checks and found nothing.

Thanks, Yes time to dig deeper, and no codes thrown.

Thanks Bob, I did only a voltage test on the battery after charging it... An amperage test is easy and the next thing I'll try. One more thing... This was bought from an elderly woman who bought the car new... and she never had a single oil change! There is so much crud, Plan was to get it started and seafoam the block from the inside and change the oil a few times... I was considering removing the crank sensor and blowing compressed air into the hole while cranking it a few times... just incase there is some crud causing the signal to be interupted?
