07 ford focos battery on comes on after five miles an won't go off. checked charging system found system charging 12.5 volts installed new alternator system is 14.07 to 14.23 volts but light still comes on please help

if I shut off the car and restart it the light waits about five mins then it comes on

So you are still charging at 14.7 to 14.23 when the battery light comes on. Check charging when light is off then check again when light is on and see if still charging correctly.
