Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi there.

I cant seem to get the hood up on my 78 camaro. I get underneath the car to pull the hood the release
mechanism lever and nada. Am I doing something wrong? How do I get it unstuck? Im afraid to pull too
hard and break the lever.

And I cant get to the mechanism itself really.. without at least pulling some panels off.

Try having someone push down on the hood while you pull the release. This will relieve some of the friction on the release mechanism...maybe enough to allow it to open. Then lube it up nice.

Ahhh.. push down. I had a friend helping me yesterday and I think we tried just about everything besides pushing down on the hood while pulling on the lever. I'll try that and see if we have any success!

yeah i got into a small fender bender in my trans am, i pull the hood release and nothing happens, im lucky enough to have my hood latch get stuck open after i pulled it....so i would pull it, walk around to the front and kinda do CPR on my hood near the latch and it would pop open

Well.. the pushing down didn't work but afterwards I doused it in WD40 and came back to it a few hours later and whalla! Popped open.
