Specs on XLE

Asked by jannieo Dec 23, 2008 at 11:28 PM about the 2003 Toyota Camry

Question type: General

Does my car have front-wheel drive?  I am trying to decide whether it is safer to drive a 95 Dodge Ram 1500 with 4 wheel drive in snow and ice or to drive my 2003 Camry XLE with ABS in the same conditions.

yes its a front wheel drive it would all depend on just where you were driving it as to which is better

Generally speaking trucks handle like pure crap in the snow due to poor weight distribution. I've driven AWD trucks and fwd cars in the snow, I'd take the camry over the ram any day. The AWD does keep you from getting stuck a bit better but the car will be more stable while driving and less likely to act like a top when you hit a patch of ice. The only exception I've had is my current Axiom, and I think it's mostly because it weighs over 3.5tons and has better weight distribution than the other AWD vehicles I've driven.
