How long does it take (on average) to do a timing belt change etc on a Subaru Legacy

Asked by HikuMotors Jan 08, 2014 at 02:54 PM about the 2000 Subaru Legacy

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just wondering what the approximate time required for doing a timing belt change.  Need to take car into the city to get the job done and need to plan the day.

It depends on the shop, usually it will take 1-2 days of actual work because most shops have to pull the engine to do a Subaru timing belt. But unless they have the parts already there when you drop the car off you may be waiting on parts as well so I would personally budget your expectations to 3-4 days depending on how fast they actually get to it, how fast they get parts and how fast they work.

Depending on busy the shop is you can get it done within a a day and you do not have to pull the engine to do a timing belt on a Subaru
