Question type: General

How much weight can Saturn Vue V6 AWD handle for towing a horse trailer

For both the Base and SUV the towing Capacity is 3500 lbs, but quote: "When Adequately Equipped, which may mean engine and/or drivetrain upgrades" ..probably meaning an aux, transmission cooler and stiff enough rear suspension. The average 2-Horse trailer weighs about 2, 200 to 2,500 (I looked it up) and the average horse at Least 1000 lbs (That one I knew) so....not really to your question. Put only one horse in is pushing the limits...two horses= 4200 lbs. minimum....not going to happen.

I towed a small box trailer on a very hot day, with AC on, and I boiled the transmission fluid. I thought I was in trouble. I drained the burnt fluid, ran it, then drained it again. I then installed an 18,000 gross vehicle weight transmission cooler, in front, attaching it to the plastic spoiler below the radiator (yes a rock could hit it and damage it), I think it was a 403 or 404 Hayden. I haven't had anymore problems, and the engine runs cooler also.
