What is wrong with 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix? Heat suddenly stopped working. Steam coming from under hood. Gauge showed hot, in red area.

Looked under hood, everything is
wet.  Standing in front of the car,
most of wetness is on the left side to
the middle, and mostly in the back.
Radiator hoses look ok, what could
be seen in the dark, as it happened
at night.  Underneath the car towards
the dash it appears to be leaking
either green or orange fluid.  The car
is also making a squeezing noise
now.  Any one know what may have
broke?  How hard would it be to fix
for someone with little experience?
How much might it be if my son were
to fix it.  How much if I take it to a
mechanic?

On my 2006 Grand Prix the same thing happened. The heater hose bypass elbows blew. I replaced them with aluminum ones so it won't happen again. To replace them, you have to remove the alternator and the bracket that holds the tensioner pulley. After you replace them, refill the coolant and bleed any air out of the system.
