Ranger needs tranny

Asked by Rcutsail Sep 27, 2017 at 08:41 AM about the 1990 Ford Ranger

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1990 2.9 2x4 automatic ranger. Overdrive stopped
working first (before i bought it) nd now it won't go into
gear at all.

What models and years are compatible? Having an
impossible time finding an automatic ranger with same
specs.

why don't you take it to a shop and have them rebuild it ? What if you buy used and only get 6 months out of it then you're right back where you were

I cannot afford to rebuild at this time. Most junk yards sell used for under $200 and a buddy and I can put it in.
