It could be a broken fan belt, clogged radiator, thermostat not opening, bad radiator fan switch, bad electric fan, low coolant, electric cooling fan failure could be why it run hot.

Is it white, blue, or black, if it is steam it is normal. white smoke is cracked/ warped cylinder head, blown head gasket, cracked engine block. Blue smoke is spark plug O-Rings, valve seals, piston rings. Black smoke is excess fuel in system from faulty sensors, faulty fuel pressure regulators, faulty injectors, faulty fuel pump, or you need a new fuel system.
