Nissan 350z Ecu won't connect

I recently bout a used ecu for my 2003 350z and
brought some one to program the key and the
computer to my car but when he connects his
programming device it would say ecu not found...
and when we tried the old ecu it would say ecu
disconnected can anybody help me figure out
what's wrong ?

not sure but the 300 ecu had a dip switch that had to be turned to a specific spot before unplugged from car if not would lose memory and nissan would have to program or repair.
