front end noise

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a 2003 Spectra. I've noticed a noise that sounds like its coming from the front drive axle. Does anyone know what this might be? I really like the car and @ 32mpg I got a great deal

uld be any number of things that have to do with the suspension. Best thing to do is get it on a lift or ramps. check everything around the wheels and suspension parts.

I have been told it could be front wheel bearings. Mine sounds like a constant scraping or grinding sound that gets louder with speed and scrunching sound at parking lot speed. Only when driving. No sound or free play when up on the rack and wheels are rotated by hand. Need Price of brgs. and install.
