Car's check engine light is blinking after driving through a puddle.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi,
I had to drive through a major puddle yesterday as there was no
information/detour option regarding the puddle. The car now has Check
Engine light blinking. The car jerks on acceleration, which is slower than
normal. The fuel intake is also very high, especially when the car is
decelerating. I had to drive back home in the same condition. What could be
damaged? How can I get this fixed? How much will it cost?

A flashing check engine light is warning you that the engine is misfiring and damaging the catalytic converter. Something with the ignition system got wet when you drove through the puddle and is causing a misfire. Once it dries out you'll be fine. Hope that helps! Jim
