will the wrong oil cap cause your oil pressure to drop

Asked by GuruHDJF6 Jul 02, 2019 at 12:43 PM about the 2014 Ford F-150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi, I have a 2014 Ford F150 4x4 3.5, 6 cylinder. The oil pressure light came
on after the check engine light had came on and the truck died. After 20
minutes, I was able to restart it. Oil level is good. The manual states to use
5w20 but the prior owner used 5w30. The oil cap itself says 5w30, can the
wrong oil and/or cap cause the oil pressure and check engine light to come
on? I don't want to have to change the oil pressure switch unless I absolutely
have to. I don't want to have to remove the alternator.
