opinions, reviews, gas mileage

Asked by wildbirds Sep 01, 2012 at 12:40 PM about the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question type: General

I am getting ready to look at a 2002 grand jeep cherokee overland v8. I would like to know any problems anyone has had with these and the gas mileage compared to a v6 grand jeep cherokee laredo 2002 . Mine was totalled by someone and I had a laredo that was a v6, going to look at v8 in overland and curious about gas mileage since its a v8 and any known probems with these guys. Any reviews would be helpful.

http://www.edmunds.com/jeep/grand-cherokee/2002/mpg.html? style=100003413&pos=9&mpy=15000 Ranks a 2002 Jeep 4.7L V8 at 14 combined. To note, it ranks a 2003 4Runner 4x4 4.7L V8 at 15 combined, and I DEFINITELY got that monster up to 18.6 mpg. I did my fair share of accelerating and stopping. I am also getting a V8 GC, and I am predicting 16-17 if the engine is in healthy shape (clean filters, clean pistons, etc.)

I have a 01 4.7 v8 4 all time its gets 8.6mpg its horrible isn't underatand why its so bad
