Is it possible to take a 2005 Grand Cherokee, and make it stay in 4wd all the time? Is there an Elec motor like on the Fords that shifts transfer case in and out of 4wd? Thanks..

It is in FWD all the time. All wheels are driven equally at all times until there is a slip sensed by wheel speed sensors. Then the available torque is applied to the wheels that aren't slipping until traction is achieved again.

Thanks Bill. I did end up replacing a sensor on the front end, and it seems to be working. We're just using this as a plow / yard truck, it has over 200,000. Miles on it, but still runs.
