The lift gate on 2013 Journey

Asked by Guru9NLX6F Jan 27, 2022 at 01:37 PM about the 2013 Dodge Journey

Question type: General

The lift gate will not raise fully unless I push it. I have hit my head several time
on it because I thought it was raising as normal. What is making it stall?

There are struts that look like long shock absorbers that hold compressed gas and they provide the force that raises the liftgate. Yours just are worn out. You can buy them at any parts store and install yourself; it's easy. Or have a mechanic do it.

Those struts used to last twenty years. Now they last about ten.
