I have a 2013 ford fusion and my fan started running yesterday what could this be

the fan is supposed to run,the reason is it helps to cool the engine. the fan is set so that when a certain temp is reached the fan cuts in to cool things down. after you stop and park the fan will run for awhile to cool the engine down,after it cools down the fan will stop.
