How does a Hyundai Elantra drive in snow?

I asked this question last year as my 2012 Elantra was totally useless in light and heavy snow
and received many replies all similar to my experience. FYI I am a retired outside sales rep covering NJ, PA, DE & MD for thirty six years and probably drove over one million miles.
i had a 97 Honda Civic and put 290,000 miles on it, I had a 2002 Honda Civic and put 258,000 miles on it and drove in all kinds of weather without any difficulty. I had a 97 Plymouth Champ and 1982 Dodge Colt both with front wheel drive and also a very light car but no problems in snow so my conclusion the Hyundai front wheel drive system lacks something that my other cars had and could perform in snow covered driving. I just bought new Bridgestone Blizzaks which have been recommended so I'm anxious to see how the vehicle performs with the new tires.

I'm an engineer (worked for a tire manufacturer for 30 yrs) and have driven elantra's and just about every other modern fwd auto. I think the Blizzak tires will solve your problems. the Hyundai drive train, weight distribution and front suspension is very similar to other cars in the category. we have a 2003 elantra in the family which I've driven a lot in the snow this brutal winter. It has fresh all-season radials on it and it does fine in the snow--plenty of traction for moderate to even deep snow. Nothing short of studded tires will do well on ice, but dedicated snow tires are compounded to grip better in snow (at all 4 wheel positions) and the tread pattern is designed to engage packed snow to keep the drive wheels engaged. let us know how you make out with the Blizzaks.

Yesterday was first chance I had to test my Bridgestone Blizzaks in snow and they performed wonderfully. original tires had no cross grooves so no traction provided.
