My ABS and Traction lights come on sometimes when I brake. Then I get a message that says service ESC and service traction. What would be the problem?

Badly worn brakes can cause the wheels to stop out of sync ... the Traction control senses the wheels out of sync ,,, like on a wet or icy road and thinks your losing traction
