Did they test the fuel pressure? If it's low, then that's not bad gas, just a weak pump. You could try replacing the fuel filter, if it's been a while the old one is likely dirty. Keep in mind if you've never replaced the fuel pump, and given your vehicles age and mileage, you are certainly overdue. The price quoted seems alright, tad high, but not knowing where you are from I can't say for sure. Midwestern prices would be about 400. The tank has to be dropped to get to the fuel pump.
