AC Compressor

I purchased a used 2009 Honda Civic and about 3
months after I got it the AC compressor went out.  
The car would not stay running unless I
disconnected the AC compressor. Since then the
car has been through 3 compressors and currently
it needs replaced again. What would cause the car
to burn up AC compressors? I hesitate to keep
replacing them when they don't last. Is there an
underlying problem with the cooling system that
would cause this?

No the coolant system would have nothing to do with this. So what in the world happens to the compressor to make it no good anymore? Are these new AC compressors?

yes they are new and when they go out the car won't stay running. If I disconnect it the car runs great. Currently driving with it disconnected because I am not going to replace it until the weather gets warm. But it seems pointless to keep replacing it.

How is it disconnected? Electrically or bypassed the pulley?
