2014 Honda Civic AC Compressor Blew Up

I have a 2014 Honda Civic EX Sedan 1.8 Liter engine.  The AC compressor just went today and I am a single woman and unemployed presently.  I just had service a the dealership 3 weeks ago tomorrow and they did an oil change, evacuate and recharge on my AC b/c it wasn't blowing cold, it was blowing 55 degrees and I or rather, they replaced the serpentine belt. Now if they didn't repair the serpentine belt correctly could this have caused the compressor to fail?  I need some help, right now I have no AC and am in South Florida...

I had driven the car and when I first started, it it sounded a little strange, but I went to an appt. not far with the AC on and parked the car. When I got back to my car and started it up, there was a weird noise under the hood like a belt was loose or something, like a whirring noise and then the car acted like it was going to stall out, but I revved it up and it didn't stall. I was not far from the Honda dealership, so I drove slowly there. I kept smelling something burning, so I shut off the air and opened the windows. When I got to the dealer, they checked it out and told me the compressor and clutch froze up and I would need to replace them with a bunch of other stuff for the AC system, like a whole new AC system to the tune of over 4 grand. I am sick to my stomach over this.
