check engine light on 2009 accent. Codes show #1 and #3 cylinder misfire. Any input?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car has not had any issues until now.  Driving car after filing gas tank.  Car started sputtering very bad.  Check engine light came on.  Checked oil and was less than a quart low.  coolant level fine.  Had code checked and showed #1 and #3 cylinder misfire.  Replaced all spark plugs.  No change.  Limped car home.  Have no repair manual yet.  Just ordered.  Not sure how to check resistance in coil packs.  Maybe have jumped tooth in timing belt?

I have had the same issue twice. I am wondering now if its a wiring issue. But each time I have changed the coils and plugs, the issue goes away but after the first time it was only about 8,000 miles and they went out again. So as I said its gotta be an electrical issue. This is happening to a lot of cars not just ours.

I have the same issue with my 2007 Hyundai Accent. Cylinders 1 & 3 misfire. Car barely running. Each cylinder has it's own coil on coil on my engine but looks as if others are talking of two cylinders sharing a coil with rectifiers (coil pack). Would be nice if someone could shed light on this as it appears to be common with these cars.

The cylinder order is 1-2-3-4 from passenger side to driver side. My power has decreased steadily until tonight I barely made it home. It will not even rev to 3000rpm out of gear now. I bought four new plugs and four new ignition coils which should be here Wednesday. It would be nice if that fixed it.

The spark plug gaps are too large from the factory causing the coil pack to fail. Tighten up the plug gap to .035. Very common failure for these cars.

My 2009 Hyundai Accent 1.6L is running rough with a check engine light. Has low power, loss of power and reading 3 codes: P0300 random misfire, P0301 Cylinder 1 misfire and P0303 Cylinder 3 misfire. Please help! Thanks!

"My 2009 Hyundai Accent 1.6L is running rough with a check engine light. Has low power, loss of power and reading 3 codes: P0300 random misfire, P0301 Cylinder 1 misfire and P0303 Cylinder 3 misfire. Please help! Thanks!" Solved: I switched all 4 ignition coil on plugs to the left in the same direction, cleared the codes and after running the car for a minute the codes came in again, random misfire was the same but it was now misfiring on cylinder 2 and 4 instead of 1 and 3. Changed all coils and spark plugs and the problem is solved

The answer is easy. it is a possibility of 3 things Spark plugs, Ignition Coil, Wiring harness to the Ignition coils. Firstly start by pulling each coil (10 mm Socket) look for defects. One of mine was broken when removed but the issue was Cylinder 2 had oil in the spark plug hole which means my Valve cover is leaking. online the firing order was wrong so from the passenger side mine was 1234. The problem was noticeable from the Coil but some have pin holes or just damaged from heat

Check your purge value along with a coil going bad especially if it starting hard after fueling
