The D or Drive on the transmission, flashing is an indication you have a transmission fault. You can have the van scanned for the trouble codes to determine the exact issue. Any easy check, is there enough fluid in the transmission case and is it red? Pull the dipstick when the engine is warm and running, in park. In most cases, your transmission will need attention.
