Tranmission Questions

Asked by vln41908 Sep 02, 2009 at 03:25 PM about the 1998 GMC Jimmy

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My tranny has started acting up and I'm wondering if I might be low on transmission fluid.  Where is the dipstick (does it have one?) to check it and where would I add more in? Thanks.

If you're facing the engine with the hood up, in will be on your left hand side almost right against the bulkhead. The dipstick will be red in color, you will also add ATF fluid through this hole with a small funnel. Check your transmission fluid with the engine idling at operating temperature in Park.
