What is the hose next to the vapor Canister Vent Valve / Solenoid?

Hey everyone first time on this site for questions and what my question is I
have a 2000 GMC Jimmy and just recently I have the check engine light on
and it says the p0440 code so I went to AutoZone and the guy told me it was
the charcol canister because he scanned it using his code reader and so I
got the canister but when I looked under the car my shelf this morning I saw
a hose and it looked broken but it might mean nothing I don't know it was
right next to the vapor Canister Vent Valve/Solenoid so the question is what
is what is it called and should I replace it?

The broken hose was probably why there was a trouble code , The clerk at auto zoo is not a mechanic , they sell parts . The code tells you where the trouble is not what to replace , you still have to diagnose the problem .

Remove the rubber part of the hose and get it matched up at your local auto parts store. It MUST be rated for fuel VAPOR. Buy a foot of the hose and cut it to fit a little farther up the broken plastic hose and clamp it on. I am concerned about the wetness in your photo. Is that gasoline? If it is the valve is stuck open and allowing liquid gasoline to be pulled into the EVAP system not good. Hope that helps! Jim
