Of course the air filter should be fine since your buying parts, The mass air flow code is most likely set off because of a vacuum leak or can also mean bad connections, failing or dirty components, dirty IAC, throttle body ect. I would look for a vacuum leak first, try to listen for it and see where it is coming from or anywhere extra air can be entering the system. The most common causes of the code P0101 are: - Dirty, obstructed or faulty mass air flow sensor (MAF), - Cracked, ripped or disconnected intake boot (snorkel), - Vacuum leaks (from stuck open PCV valve, leaking intake gaskets, etc.), - Clogged up or improperly installed air filter, - The mass air flow sensor element contaminated by excess oil from an oil-soaked air filter, - Clogged-up catalytic converter or restricted exhaust, Other possible causes include: - Dirty throttle body, - Bad or dirty manifold absolute pressure sensor (MAP), - Electrical problems with the MAF sensor connector or wiring, - Stuck open EGR valve, - Incorrect valve timing, - faulty engine computer (ECM),

Hi Hunch! this first answer is pretty much dead on. I had this same problem with my CEL and it REFUSED to go off. I took my cables off of my battery several times to reset buy it simply didn't work. changed o 2 sensors.. it stayed on. Sure enough, I trusted an oil soaked KNN air filter and it saturated my MAS enough to where it wouldn't operate properly and therefore couldn't communicate with the fuel pump how much fuel to send up, etc.So, my combustion ratio of 1471 could not have been reached. I got rid of KNN and went to traditional fiber air and my CEL was off after a mile or 2. Stay AWAY from FRAM products!!
