1999 Ford Taurus won't go into gear

Transmission would occassionly slip.  
Now it won't go into gear at all.  I had it
towed, when unloaded it went into gear
and drove fine shifting gears for a
second then Nothing again it did this a
few times then nothing.  What is the
problem?

Did you check the transmission fluid level?
