I changed my starter in gmc envoy tried starting g it from the starter it still won't start

I put a starter on...the dash lights worka...when I try to start it makes a clicking
noise...tried starting it from the starter and it still won't start...when I put
jumper cables to the battery that the only way the key comes out of the
ignition... I don't no what else to do

Loosen the serpentine belt tensioner with a 3/8 drive ratchet. Take the belt off of the pulley's (there's a diagram of the belt routing on the radiator cover to reinstall the belt correctly). Once belt is removed, try to start the car. If it starts, you have a seized A/C Compressor more than likely. I guess its possible that something else "may" be seized like the water pump, PS pump or Alternator but its unlikely. It's usually the A/C Compressor. You can bypass the AC Compressor temporarily to be able to use the car or permanently if you do not need or want AC. I can send you the exact sized belt number if you need to bypass the compressor. I don't have it in front of me but happy to lookup for you if anyone needs, just post a reply.
