gmc envoy won't start

2002 cmc envoy. intermittently won't start. turn the key and everything lights
up but no ignition at all.  i had the gear shift switch/sensor fixed and i thought
that was the problem which seemed to be for a while now i'm back to the
same problem. i even had it towed to my mechanic and when it arrived it fired
right up. they kept it for a week and no problems but now a couple months
later i have the same problem. they thought it could be the ignition switch but
no way of telling when it starts for them. very frustrating.. any suggestions?

Ignition switches are problematic on our platform. I'd replace it, with an AC Delco switch. Not hard to do, find videos on the tube.
