2000 explorer timing issue?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

car starts & fires then shuts off 30 seconds later then refuses to start. Not fuel pump  not alternator could it be crankshaft
sensor?

yes it could be the sensor among other things. hook a scan tool to it and see if there are any codes. next check to see if the pcm is recieving rpm signal when its acting up if its not seeing rpm the sensor or a connection with the sensors wiring is at fault.

Its a XLS V6 SOHC, it starts but once above 2,000 RPM shuts down. Where is the PCM?

pcm is in the firewall you will see the big connector right above the motor when you pop the hood
