1980 Chevy k10

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought this truck about a year ago and got it up
and running it has a 350 in it with a 4 barrel carb on
it. It was running really good until about a month
ago I started to notice a small hesitate when driving
down the road and now the hesitation got worse
and now every time I take off it hesitates all the time
even at a steady speed and when I get it up to
about 60 mph or more sometimes it makes a loud
pop and dies then kicks back in real quick. Not sure
what that is? I've already replaced the fuel pump
fuel filter. And wondering if I should replace spark
plugs, wires, and distributor cap??? If that would
maybe help

May be the accelerator pump in the carburetor. With the motor off, and the air cleaner off, look down the throat of the carb. and move the throttle, watch to see if fuel squirts onto the butterflies at a steady stream. Another thing to check would be when the motor is all warmed up, have the air cleaner off, shut the engine off and look down the air horn to see if you see like a steam coming up from the butterflies. If so then it is starting to flood out.
