98 Honda civic turns over but won't start

Asked by Guru96XQJ Jul 20, 2017 at 12:10 PM about the 1998 Honda Civic Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Honda civic (1998) turns over but won't
start. There's no spark. It has sat for a
month without being started. What's wrong
and what do I do to figure it out. I'm
mechanically illiterate.

When you say turns over, I assume you mean the engine cranks. There's a few things that could be wrong: You could have a failing starter. You could have faulty spark plugs (very fouled in this case if they haven't been replaced). Your coils to your spark plugs could be failing. Finally your fuel pump may be failing but this is the last thing I'd check. Before looking deep into this though, you could also check your fuse box to see if those are all good too. Hope this helps.
