Transmission isn't shifting on it's own

Asked by Clayton Apr 12, 2018 at 10:51 PM about the 2000 Cadillac Eldorado

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So when I start my car and start to take off it won't shift
unless I take my foot off of the gas. The fluids are good
and no leak in the transmission or anything so I'm not
understanding why it's not shifting on it's own.... Like is it
not recanizing it needs to shift or what... If you guys have
any explanation that would be great

Possible shift solenoid or TCM failure, a good tranny shop can plugin and run stand alone tests to determine if it is an internal transmission pressure problem or electronic.
