What owners say
"Overall, owners of the 2005 Dodge RAM 2500 rave about its performance, especially the powerful 5.9 Cummins Turbo Diesel engine which is praised for its towing capacity and fuel efficiency. Many love its strength and reliability, particularly for hauling trailers and off-road adventures. However, some drivers dislike the automatic transmission, finding it unresponsive compared to manuals. A few also mention the high cost of fuel and that parking can be a challenge due to its size."
Very attractive truck. Has held up nicely for 4 years. Does very well in the snow. Very roomy inside. Has been very reliable. Feel very safe when driving in it, and very fun to drive. Low maintenance. Good vehicle to own.
July 27, 2014Ram power wagon is a force to be reckoned with! A very capable off-road vehicle while still maintaining an impressive towing/payload capacities. Also naturally sits level on a factory 2.5 inch lift. Forget having to put cheap aftermarket parts on it to make it sit on the ground without looking like it will burrow in. Tough truck for sure. I love it!
April 6, 2023I hate the trans (I loved my manual), but overall, its been a really good truck. Hauls my family and dog all over the place. Wish I had a large enough garage to fit it into! It's a good truck.

October 23, 2014Add 35" tires and with no other changes this truck can be driven anywhere. The many options of the power wagon package make it the off road powerhouse it is. Winch, skid plates, lockers, 4.56 gears, real transfer case and still very reliable grocery geter soccer mom or dad truck.
January 23, 2014I love my dodge. It has lasted a long time and has held up through it all. It is a bit on the heavy side but that makes it good for hauling/pulling. I've moved 3 times and having this truck came in handy.
October 21, 2014- The Cummins is a brute built for work. It tows my trailer without issue. The engine is smooth, the NV5600 transmission is ok - 3rd gear synchro is very notchy and the box shifts slowly. The brakes are acceptable, but a truck of this weight and pulling power really should have larger front rotors with larger pads and 4 or 6 piston calipers to improve brake performance and pedal feel. This may very well be upgraded soon. - The build quality is above expection of a Chrysler product that was assembled in Mexico. There are some small issues that are design issues more than assembly related. - Appearance is solid. - cost of ownership has been very good. regular maintenance is easy to perform. fuel ecomomy has deteriorated since ultra low sulfer diesel was introduced - lost 2.5 mpg - but thank god its is cleaner (ignoring that its burning more now - once again the morons of the EPA have won this one...) -Overall, this is a solid work horse. The biggest issue that will be resolved shortly is improving the engine's efficiency with this new ultra low sulfer diesel fuel.
September 22, 2008A very nice truck. Plenty of room and power. A bit too much at the pump though.
June 19, 2008Features are plenty witj Laramie package Value is unsurpassed with minimal computer management and no exhaust restrictions. Its missing about 500-600hp for my personal taste. There is nothing that compares to the 5.9 Cummings in these years
January 11, 2023beautiful truck that gets over 22 miles to the gallon. I have driven as a family car or pulling the 28 foot boat. Either way it still rides like a Mercedes not a diesel truck Have a great day where ever you are or what your doing.
December 7, 2010I love everything except one thing, I had a recall done on it and if you drive with the door open in reverse the alarm goes off. the power is there, the look is there. I can hook up to a 16,00lb trailer tow it to the mountain unhook, and Drag the truck all day long. it does everything.
