The 2002 Mercury Sable GS, for its size, has a quick launch, 27mpg highway, a little noisy, handles flat, awkward to get in (Im 62, 230lbs.), and the rearview mirror has GOT to relocate. Dead in the way. The backs of the back seats fold down for a 2 acre trunk, adjustable pedals for the height challenged, and the interior lighting is limited. If it didnt drive like a slot car, and cheap on gas, I wouldnt like it near as much.Apr 29, 2024

Taurus or Sable top models with the larger Duratec motors are awesome. I STILL drive every day a 1999 Ford Taurus with almost 300K and it STILL is a reliable no problems other than normal things car. Friends have Sables with same engine , the newest in their collection is a Sable 2001. Of course we are people who ALWAYS stuck true blue to the manufacturers maintenance and lived in the SE and garaged so no rust or faded paint either. If you can buy either makes from some senior in FL or AZ with low mileage, grab it. For under 4500. in most cases it will be a heck of a buy. Good first car for teens great crash stats. Sep 18, 2022

the mercury 2002 sable is definitely a " plus" for ford with its powerful 3 liter v6 motor it ranks up there with any mid-sized sporty car , its wide low profile aluminum wheels and its unique arrow-dynamic body style, its fast sleek and handles like a dream. 1 of Americas best cars of its era. with its great handling and awesome sound system, it make it a all around fun, sporty car.. i love it..Mar 30, 2014
