Performance: Original this car goes 0-100km/h in 7.3 sec, but mine is tuned a bit, so about a second quicker maybe!?! Build Quality: ok Apperance: OK Cost of Ownership: Paint job, high gas mileage, maintenance is nothing more than service each 10.000km and a lot of carwash :P Fun factor: Fun car to drive, YES. my car is a Volvo S40 T1.9. It needs a paint job, and the flex pipe coming from the engine has a hole in it that makes it sounds like a race car lol.. I dont want it to sound like that so im going to fix it when i get the money. the fun thing about my car is that with the t1.9 it gets up to speed pretty fast and now that the starter coils and the VTC ha been fixed by my father and I the car runs smooth, its light weight too Dec 16, 2009

After totaled two cars, I suggested my mother to buy a Volve. This is the first year that Volvo came up with a car that is set at US$20,000 price range (thanks to Ford) so we went for it. On the way home on the first day, I tested the acceleration. Since this is a 1.8T, there is a turbo lack all the way until 50mph. Overall, the car is quiet and comfortable. However, I went back home 3 years later to drive the car again, it was very loud especially with the AC on. It also didn't give me the same sense of the legendary Volvo safety that my uncle's old 240 does on this car. It feels like just another Ford's "quality" product.Mar 19, 2008

Had this car, (well actually had two, one of which went into a large post sideways) for 2 years and I honestly cant fault it. The bonus for me at 17 was having the 1.8 engine, no Ferrari i know, however much better than a 1.2 Nova! If I could have afforded to keep this car I would have loved to and built the spec up on it. Great base model car, comfortable, reliable and compared to the relative age group and engine sizes in the UK I couldnt have asked for a better first car. Much preferred to a 3 series BMW or low series Mercs. Jan 01, 2008
