Liked that the car was comfortable and reliable. Disliked that it didn't look more rugged or sporty. Also liked that it has a powerful engine, cruise control, comfortable and nice looking interior. Very quiet car and I really liked that.Mar 25, 2015

I like just about everything this car has to offer no bad qualities that i can see so far only thing I could say is maybe a little more power would be nice to have if it had a turbo or twin turbo chargers it would definently be more fun.Mar 09, 2015

Car has 130,000 miles on it and have had to replace exhaust, cat converter and a few other parts there were rusted, but I think it sat a while before I got it. Runs good, handles good but its acceleration is not that great, it is a 4 cylinder. Lots of room in the engine compartment make it easy to work on.Feb 27, 2015

Reliability is my number one priority. 35miles/per gallon. It's been proven on long drive without a problems. AC on warm weather, heater works fine on cold weather. The car is amazing and fun to drive with family and kids. It's good on winter snow too never got stock or slide. Low maintenance never had a major problem.Timing belt last forever didn't change untill 140k/miles. This are the car i think the most reliable of all economy cars i have ever had and worth of every penny i have spent and got in return for his reliability and gas saver.Oct 16, 2014

Bought car in 2007 with 25000 mi. Have run it for the last 6 years with no problems only the standard maint., no surprises. Great car for running around town or a long trip. I have 79k mi on it now and I expect it will still be running in 10 years with over 200k mi. GaryB. Jan 03, 2014

Great car and get excellent gas mileage. Very roomy and is very easy to see out of. Seating is comfortable and the A/C is very cold. Hugh truck space and it is an excellent car for a new driver. Aug 30, 2012

lack of maintenance by previous owner who was supposed to be a mechanic!
Needed 4 tyres and oil leaks needed fixing - they haven't been able to stop oil leaks!
Excellent acceleration.
Braking is very slow.
Needs a fair amount of room for turning.
Low petrol consumption on long trips.
High petrol consumption on local trips.
Would prefer central locking to button access which has proved less than reliable.
In country Australia I only need to turn off overdrive on steep hills.

I would like a little bit more power. I would like the dash and center console bulbs to last longer. Parking break release button sticks. Great for transporting people around in. Great looks. Comfortable ride quality. Nice alloy rims. Good car.Nov 05, 2011

Prefer manual transmissions, but this automatic is decent. The 2.2L engine seems to have alot more power than the 2.2L in my '93 Camry manual 5-speed. The 2000 is much heavier, but mileage averages 30mpg. Always kept a quart of Slick50 or DuraLube superoil in the crankcase with the regular 5W-30. Of course, doesn't compare with my wife's 2006 LE with 2.4L 4-cyl engine for acceleration. Maintenance is cheap (like my '93) with easy to change spark plugs and disc brakes (front only, non-ABS). All you have to do is keep decent oil in it and it lasts forever.Nov 02, 2011

boought at 54K miles one owner. currently pushing 190K with minimal maintenance needs. replaced clutch at 140K-nothing unusual. at the same time i replaced timing belt and water pump b/c it was connected to the timing belt. -this work was nothing but preventative , no problems were encountered to cause the work. AC unit went out about 140K. again nothing major. thats it. brake pads, batteries, tires, oil, filters, etc all routine requirements for maintaining a vehicle to cox out its best life. this engine runs strong with great acceleration throughout the whole shift spectrum, rides comfortably (not a lexus), gets you where you want to go without breaking down. currently buying a 2005 avalon xls b/c of the prior toyota experience. researched and looked for six months before buying the avalon from a private party, although i test drove some dealer cars to. drove lexus es300, rx300, ls430, jaguar, infiniti i35 and g35, maxima and altima , plus camry xle and other avalons, before deciding on this one. will report on the avalon in coming months and a few years later. all the other comparably driven cars were 2004 - 2006 except the jag, it was 2002. none of the other cars were bad in anyway. but when comparing ride, price, maintenance, visibility, cargo space, passenger comfort F & B, and personal satisfaction, the avalon came out the winner. my 2000 toyota was equally compared and it again was the winner. i'm keeping the 2000 toyota b/c i believe it will go another 50,000 miles with little trouble.Aug 21, 2011

Excellent car. Never needed major repairs. Gas mileage was good. not much
maintenance required. It was a free car to drive. It did not cost very much a month

The car accelerates briskly, revving fast and the torque is noticeable for
a front wheel driver. It brakes alright, but the handling is pretty bad-
the steering is too light and vague, not providing road feel. The
suspension is too soft for my liking, but it is a "family car." I have the
rare 5-speed manual, so it is a very fun car to drive. The build quality
mechanically is great, but the interior has some various vibrations of
plastic at different speeds. The appearance is attractive, but not
beautifully so. I get 18-20 city mpg, and 28 highway.Jan 27, 2010

performance- acceleration is pretty solid, braking is good, handles like it's on rails...
build quality- all you have to do it change the oil and put gas in it... amzing...
appearance- pretty good... nothing special but nice enough for what i use it for...
cost- 38mpg highway, and it's a toyota... it's cheap to work on...

Reliable and comfortable grocery getter / commuter car. Change the oil every 5k miles (sythentic), and you're good to go. The appearance is rather bland, but typical for a Japanese sedan. It serves it's purpose well. I have had no major repairs, just kept up with routine maint. Mar 26, 2009

I have had this car for 5 years now. It has been in eight car accidents, and it still drives strong. The timing belt went at 89,000 so no complaints(Suppost to get changed at 90,000 and i drove hard, really hard). It's a great car for delivering pizza in the bar district (hence the wreaks). The car gets you places. There's nothing to hate or love about the thing. It's just a good solid people mover.
The gas mileage is nothing special for a Japanese car.
Driving the car can be fun though, it has its speed when you need it. Toyota can make some decent four cylinder engines.Jul 05, 2008

its a 2000 Toyota Camry CE with 135,000 miles. It has the 2.2l 4 cylinder engine. Its a pretty comfortable quiet car. Its also extremely reliable. Ive never had to replace anything outside of normal maintinence. Its really roomy and has a big trunk and pretty good stock sound system. Its also really safe, i got rear ended by a lady going 25 ish mph and the bumper cracked and that was it. However its a pretty ugly car and looks really akward. Its also really really slow and has no low end power. The automatic trans is terrible and randomly downshifts. In my driving (all city) it only gets 18mpg while it suppose to get at least 23. It also handles like a boat especially when you turn fast and the brakes and steering have no feel. Basically its comfortable but it sucks to drive.its also hard to park because its longer than a Chevy Trailblazer and has a huge turning circle. May 22, 2008

This car was a great daily driver. It was pretty comfortable for long drives and was cheap to fix. However the older style 5SFE motor was not very effecient on gas and the car was very sluggish. It handled poorly on highway offramps and the suspension was very bouncy (even with new shocks).Apr 30, 2008

I've owned my Camry for 2 years, and in that time have put 34k miles on it. So
far I've changed the oil, put gas in the car, cleaned it many times, and put 2
new sets of tires on it. It hasn't given me one ounce of trouble. None, zero.
The car was originally purchased by my grandmother in 2000 for $22k, and
during her ownership there was no trouble either. Sure, it isn't the fastest or
best looking car around, but who cares? It gets me from Point A to B in
relative comfort, complete safety, and just that utterly reliable Toyota thing
that no other automaker can match. I love my Camry, and within the next two

This purchase was a reaction to 2.5 years of Volvo ownership. It was reliable but the driver's seat hurt my rear, the front struts needed replacement at 45k and the stick's throws were nearly truck-like. That said, I was just too young for it. Car is for the most part great. Only minor problems - 1. check engine light on and 2. rear defrost out along with the radio antennae - not sure what the problem is there. Drives great down the road (have 74K miles now) and AC will freeze you out. This is my third Toyota and 2nd Camry - have a 1998 model I gave to my daughter to drive.Sep 05, 2007
