2000 Toyota ECHO Reviews, Pricing & Specs

I think the echo/yaris cars are great for what they are built for. Gas mileage and long lasting lifespan. The cabin is well designed and headroom is not a problem, even for taller folks. Car performs best in the city or local roads, highway manors are a little lacking. The small weight makes it easy to get blown around, plus if you want to pass you are almost always going to need a downshift. I have driven this car for nearly 70,000miles (over 230k) and cant find a good reason to get rid of it. Newer models offer power windows, something I wouldn't mind if given the choice on a 4-door car.Jan 12, 2015

Got the car from a family member, a 5 speed and 1.5L engine don't exactly thrill me, but the gas mileage cant be beat by most modern cars. When I drive conservatively I can get over 40mpg (I keep track by miles traveled). The worst I have recorded was during a week it snowed very heavily, I was stuck a lot and spent a lot of time idling - 31mpg average. The car doesn't handle well, but it is small and nimble which is great for parking lots. The suspension is very soft which lends into the poor handling it features. Now when i say poor handling, this is compared to enthusiastic driving, not regular chugging along. For that, it does just fine and you won't ever feel like you're about to fly off the road. The highway is great for mileage, but watch those bigger trucks and wind. Anyone who has ever driven a small eco-box will already know what to expect here. Drive smart and keep it under 80mph! There is even less power the faster you go and the lil engine starts to get loud.Dec 18, 2011

Fuel economy is a real bonus and the Echo is a true petrol-miser. Sweet engines match up well with manual gearbox. Tall body makes for great interior space.Reliability is streets ahead of much of the light-car class. My Girlfriend's Toyota Echo Review. Performance: Good gas milage, poor transmission, acceleration not too good, strong brakes, handling is pretty good. Build Quality: Decently Solid. Road Noice is a little loud. Appearance: Looks small but is very spacious. Car is more for women my opinion. Cost of Ownership: Good gas mileage as mentioned above and hasnt had any major problems I know of. Fun Factor: Not too much fun to drive. Not a performance car. Performance is alright for a small car, the bulid of it is pretty cool with soo many little pockets. my model looks awesome with the little body kit and mag wheels. cost of ownership is not too much different insurance wise to the patrol but the fuel is almost twice the km that the patrol for half as much $. accelerated well before rollover,though can still handle city traffic. brakes awesome. handles just about everything you can throw at it. after 9 years, would still be in mint condition if i hadn't put it on its roof. needed new windshield, hood and o2 sensor. after 100,000 miles, needs timing done. spacious interior, ample headroom, plenty of room for 5, although long legged people get cramps during long trips. great gas mileage, 35 in town 40 on the hwy. is expensive to find/obtain replacement parts such as tail light covers. Cette petite bibites à patate, affectueusement prénommée Doris, ( en hommage à la Doris du film Némo qui crie "Echo? Echo?" ) est une incroyable voiture. Très économique, hyper fiable, agréable à conduire si il n'y a pas trop de vent latéral sur l'autoroute, est parfaite comme deuxième voiture familiale. Elle étonnement spacieuse et la valise est assez grande pour y cacher 3 corps d'adultes! lol De plus l'es entretiens périodique sont très peu dispendieux et les pneus ne coutent presque rien.Jan 31, 2009

I love my lil car. It has enough room to fit 4 of my friends comfortably, gets great gas mileage and turns like non other. I feel so spoiled by it. Its so fun to drive! Its a total chick car tho, with tons of cubbies to hide stuff. It doesn't have a great amount of power but hence the great gas mileage. If you want a lil car that's great for level or down hill trips or just your everyday life the Echo is your best bet. I was so sad when they stopped making them. Sure the new cars are cuter, but there's no head room! My friend who's 6'5" couldn't get over how much room he had in my car!Oct 21, 2008

Bon ptit char pour commencer dans la vie :p... C'est très économique (autonomie d'un peu plus de 900 km), pas chere d'entretien et fiable comme beaucoup de Toyota. Le cadran au milieu... on s'en habitue apres 2 min qu'on est au volant si vous voulez savoir lol... ahah et.. c'est quand meme un auto confortable pour un ptit bolide de cette catégorie... Le seul défaut c'est la performance du moteur mais... ca tire quand meme pour un ptit char...Jul 22, 2008
