The 2.2l engine used in these cars was an absolutely fantastic engine, but as far as modifying it, it can be very limited in options compared to a 2.5 or 2.0. The car is an absolute blast to drive (on and off road :) ) and one of the most reliable cars i know!Jul 22, 2011

This car was just a 2.2 L, I had no idea there existed a sport model impreza when it was purchased. The wrx had yet to come stateside and the STi was still years from making its roar down U.S. streets. All in all it was a great car, it earned some awards, and has become a little famous on the interwebs. It ushered me into the subaru world and allowed me to make some great long term friends. If I had kept the car, I would have swapped it. Looking back I wish I still had it, she was something special. Jan 11, 2011

last of the real rally cars. powerful and elegant - needs a stronger chassy but like
all jap cars will crumble when its hit. fuel is expensive (400k's to a 60L) and so is
upkeep. brakes have been modified - full slotted rotors all round and high
composite race pads so brakes like a dream. rear lsd fitted to fix any steering
issues. acceleration is blistering and handles like a dream. a crazy fun car to drive

no turbo, but doesnt hold me back from taking advantage of the always active AWD. this car does great in the snow and in the dirt, minus the fact that mine is lowered. this is probably one of the sturdiest cars i have driven, next to the previous Subaru i owned. i love this car and have no intentions of ridding myself of it ANYTIME SOON. i will drive this car until it blows up, thats how much i love it.Nov 29, 2009

Performance - expected to be better, but ok.
Built quality - expected to be better, espec interrior, but its ok.
Appeareance - gorgeous!
Cost of Oqnership - almost none. nothing breaks.

go-kart like handling, AWD, tough agressive styling, very rare car, only 18000 sold in the years it was available. Very little maintenance cost, gets about 350 km per tank of fuel, for the way I drive it. This car is a blast to drive and I would be hard pressed to back to a 2wd vehicle.Sep 22, 2009

One word to describe this car: Fun. Driving it for 2 months, this subaru impreza 2.5rs is a blast to drive. A roller coaster ride on the on and off ramps. I would say its quick for an NA. This car can tackle through dirt,snow, and tarmac. This car has lived up to its name in the WRC world. Comes with a spoiler to give that sporty look.Good on gas since its a 4cyl.

Car is great to drive the turbo and AWD are the best
features, very fast factory car, also great for tunning up,
easy to get bolt on performance parts and a wide range of
visual add ons, i would have to say that this model is the best,

Performance - handling is amazing...fun in the snow!
Build Quality - a few minor repairs...expected for a 9yo car.
Appearance - love the exterior! Very sporty.
Cost of Ownership - a little lower on mpg than expected....other than a wheel bearing and a knock senosr, just regualr maintenance.

Performance - Considering it is still N/A it is amazing
throttle response and handling is very satisfiying. (my car
is not stock but still) Build Quality it is good not the best as
my car is now 9 yrs old it has had its share of rattles and
squeaks considerably more than my bmw but that is
comparing apples to oranges. I absolutely love the
exterior and interior I could use a upgrade to a new style
interior. Gas mileage i am still able to get a good avg of 21
mpg maintenance I would say if ya take care of it at the
right intervals problems shouldn't occur. Fun Factor this
car has plenty! I would totally recommend this car to a
friend if they are looking for a 4wd classic without breaking

Best car I have ever owned, stunning performance with brakes to match. You might need a decent bank account for fuel but it's well worth it, 100% reliable. 10 out of 10 for fun factor with fantasic build quality. A family car with big boys toys fun, what more could you ask for.Dec 21, 2008

I love this car... not so much because of looks or performace, but more for sentimental reasons. I've been on several road trips with it, it drove my now-wife around looking for places for the wedding, it helped move us into our first apartment, and it just now helped move us into our first house. The only problems I've ever run into with it was a crap security system install on it that messed with the battery. It has since been disconnected...Jun 04, 2008

Since purchasing this car used, I've had very little trouble with this car. It's beautiful, and handles quite well with the limited slip differentials it has paired to its all wheel drive drivetrain. The car is incredibly safe, and a good 500 lbs lighter than the later Imprezas, making this generation feel much more tossable. I'd recommend this to anyone wanting a sporty and reliable all-weather vehicle! May 05, 2008

This 2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS is a knock out for the pocket rocket family. Its powered by a 2.5L H4 SOHC engine. The engine puts out a solid 165 horses and 166-lbs of torque with awd. The Rally Sport edition comes with an intriguing exterior that is equipped with a rear spoiler, sporty 16inch allow wheels, hood scoop and vents, stylish front bumper with working fog lamps and a moon roof. Although the acceleration and speed is great its also equipped with 4-disc brakes and ABS. The car sits at a nice height with a Rally Sport tuned suspension with front and rear sway bars to increase control on those tight turns in any type of weather. The interior is relatively satisfying with comfortable bucket seats with a sporty two toned cloth followed to the rear bench and the door cards, leather wrapped steering wheel, a decent 4 speaker stereo system and green lit gauges and controls. Although this is a sedan the trunk is quite large for what is expected. Jan 20, 2008
