This was a great vehicle. It was comfortable, looked good, great visibility, good power and tow capacity. With a bit of care the leather seating lasted extremely well. I regularly towed trailers or loaded the vehicle as needed. Off-roading was a great time. Even though, it was maintenance heavy and low gas mileage the pluses out-way the minuses. In fact, I had a harder time finding a good mechanic. Some dealerships are not that good, US specialty shops we're a problem as well. And many auto shops didn't know what they we're dealing with.Mar 14, 2015

When it runs you can't beat it but when it don't run you want to beat it. All in all I love my disco 2 got it used and cheep just got to get bugs worked out of it unfortunately the price on parts is making this slow!Jan 02, 2015

I enjoy the ability to go anywhere that I want with 7 passengers (if you have the optional safari seats), but the maintenance costs can be astronomical if you are not a DIYer. Performance is almost non-existant, and the braking power is soft.Dec 06, 2014

The vehicle is a lot of fun, and definitely reliable in many weather conditions. The fuel is expensive, and so are brakes, rotors, and tires. The Land Rover Discovery has an adventurous feel, and a level of safety that made me enjoy the vehicle.Oct 09, 2014

do research on your next car and know if what you getting fits your budget my next car will be better in mpg and a bit more smaller or a sadan or coupe and something easy to fix and known by mechanics Jan 05, 2014

Nice little motor, the 2.5 litre Td5 engine gives it plenty of oompf for motoring around the country and towing any trailer in the process. The garden shed aerodynamics and the quite heavy weight of the car make for relatively poor fuel mileage, which can be improved a bit by removing the EGR system. A very comfy car for long trips though, provided you go for a full options model with ACE and SLS. Quite modifiable for off roading, especially the early models where it is possible to modify the transfer box for selectable centre differential lock.Apr 19, 2013

this car is very easy to drive. it runs great in the snow and ice and is perfect for hauling anything that you may need. this is the second SUV i have owned and it is by far my favorite vehicle. i definitely love this car. Mar 28, 2011

the land rover discrovery is a great suv that has good handling on and off road. i also didnt have any major repairs to do on this car so far and i had it for 4 years. it is very easy to work on and has done everything that i though it would be when i bought it.Nov 13, 2010

Like Everything Had the EGR Removed Fitted the light bar on the Roof Drives nice, looks nice Ride is nice as its Air suspension Gadets suspension lowers the axel somehow Automaticaly on the back to help get out of sticky spot Nov 08, 2010

The car is a beast. Enough Said. It has amazing performance, off-road its AMAZING. Comfy ride all around, diesel model is grande!!! braking is a bit mediokre but its worth it...... it is worth every penny. No regrets for purchasing it.Dec 11, 2009

good cornering with ace. td5 a bit thirsty and slow, great offroad. thinking mans defender, but not as pretty, Manual box good, to many ecu units, sunroofs always leak, rear air suspension great. Pretty good all rounder, would buy another.Aug 26, 2009

Its a LAND ROVER, so its THE BEST 4 X 4 X FAR. For a 3 ton vehicle Performance is outstanding. Build Quality- well let me tell you this bad boy was in water up to the dash for about 6 hours then puled it out put the key in started up (dash board was like a Christmas tree all the lights going off) took me 4 months to clean everything, the only thing that went bad was the amp, and speakers. Cost of Ownership= HIGH, unless you can do at least something on your own, change a spark plug maybe?.. Fun Factor= ITS SO MUCH FUN, its fun just to be siting in it. Aug 04, 2009

* Performance - for a V8, acceleration could've been better * Build Quality - great... until we were involved in a hit-and-run accident... things just weren't the same again * Appearance - both interior and exterior styling * Cost of Ownership - gas mileage sucks! Our Suburban has a bigger engine & faster acceleration, but gets better mileage than the Disco II... probably due to the full-time 4WD. * Fun Factor - Yes, it was fun to drive and gave you plenty of confidence in the snow (or dirt/mud)... Performance - get through the rough stuff when needed Build - Exceptionally well bbuilt Appearance - Great, rugged look with all the necessities inside. In the process of getting a brand new paint job. Also love the fact that you sit up high on the road. The 2000 "Disco II" was helped immensely by brief ownership by BMW AG. Build quality improved greatly over the original Disco and many switch gears were carry over BMW parts as well. For instance, you cam swap the "Pistol-grip" shift knobs from many BMWs.May 03, 2008
