good comfortable car, rides and handles really well. I bought the car from a lady that couldn't afford to have timing belt and resulting valve damage repaired and did the repairs myself. I have driven the car about 1000 miles with no oil consumption or loss of any fluids. I just don't need to keep it. I put in new antifreeze (Advance 50/50), and changed oil (Pennzoil 5w30 and Fram filter) when repairs were done.Mar 21, 2012

In my search for a car, I came across a 1998 Honda CR-V. I had driven a 2000 model, and LOVED it, so I thought this one would be worth a look. So I ended up buying it. I love this car, it feels nice to drive, its kinda slow, but not bad. It works great for putting the (Honda) lawnmower in. I can't wait to get my license in a couple more months, so I can drive it to school and cross-country practice. Its very easy to park, which is a great plus for me. It even has its own table (look in your owner's manual if you don't know what I'm talking about). I want my next car to be another Honda FOR SURE! or a Toyota. Jul 07, 2010

This fully loaded (minus the roof rack) CRV is lasting a long time. Got it for 11 years so far and still going for my son. I didn't like the power on this because it has none and even slows down on big hills. I also find the driver seat didn't go far back enough if you have long legs. Just recently (after 250 000km) that the transmission started to slip but the dealer wants $8 000 to replace it and the whole vehicle is worth $4 000...???Dec 15, 2009

My 1998 Honda CR-V is a great car. I've had it since 1997 and it still drives great. It's not very attractive but it has 168,000 miles on it and drives like new. It's a real tribute to Honda's quality. It's pretty comfortable too. CD Player conked out I need a new one but radio still works. 4 wheel drive is very uselful. It gets around 23 mpg and maintenance is around $200- $400 annually... as it gets older though it can get kindof pricey I had to buy a new rotator cuff last week. It's kindof fun to drive but then again any car is fun to drive when it's your first car. My Mom owned it before me. The pep factor in this car is definitely lacking. But overall I love it it has done right by us for 12 years. Aug 31, 2009

Power isn't great,but with short geared transmission it does the job. Fuel economy needs to be better for a 2.0L engine: 22 around town, 25 on the highway. Roomy interior but seats get uncomfortable after a couple hours of driving. Good cargo space and AWD system works very well for being so primitive compared to the Subaru system. Relatively low maintenance but mine has needed some unscheduled work, such as a new master cylinder and two slave cylinders on the clutch system, a new handle on the rear door, and a new lock on the driver's door. It also tends to idle rough. I tried replacing the OEM spark plugs with platinum plugs. They fixed the idle problem but made the Check Engine light come on, hence had to abandoned at inspection time. Have taken it on back roads and it handles great for a car of its size and weight. Overall a great small SUV when you can live with its limitations.Aug 15, 2008

Reliable SUV which I will run to the ground. I got it certified used. Soon after we had a transmission problem and it was replaced by Honda. Since then it has been smooth sailing with this car. Road noise on the highway is an issue for me. For what it cost and the value it holds today, its a great vehicle to own. I hope that Honda comes out with a hybrid version soon.Aug 03, 2008

The build was incredible, extremely solid, never had to take in for ANYTHING in the 7 years I owned it. The interior was very spacious and comfortable. The ride was safe, but the engine lacked power, acceleration was mediocre and braking was long. Handling, on the other hand, was nimble and very precise. Very decent trunk space for its size. I owned for several years until I left the country and bought a Mitsubishi Outlander. Overall, I'd rate the C-RV over the Outlander in terms of build, handling, fuel efficiency and overall performance.Jan 28, 2008

This car is so practical - the cargo space dimensions and rear door style allow you to carry items that some larger SUVs cannot handle. Between this internal space and the practical roof rack there is little we cannot move! Lotsa of room inside - and as an older person I appreciate the upright seating and the ease of entry and exit. Maintain it regularly and it will go forever! Love it!!Oct 05, 2006
